Anyone use a Master Blaster to dry their bike? If so just wondering what is the typical acceptable HP 2.0, 4.0 or 8.0? I realize the cost implications at the higher end, just wondering which model does the job adequately and if one model is better than the other feature-wise.

Ditto the leaf blower. Go really cheapo and don't use a battery kind, not as much air flow.

Home Depot $34. Had this for 10 years. Works great.

My inde actually told me not to use a blower to dry the bikes. I went to pick up our bikes from a routine service and he said "you blow your bikes dry don't you!". I said "yes, how could you tell?" He said he found water in places it shouldn't be. Just saying. He did say a wipe down and a ride down the road was the way to go.

No, not a masterfuckenblaster per se. I bought a hand held chinese made cheap fuckin charlie blower from harbor fuckin freight for something like 20 fuckin bucks. It works GREAT, but like I said, it forces water in, so I put it in the camper and I use it as a compact blower to get leaves and debris out of the camping spot.
I am confident that master blaster is a good unit, but I'm equally confident you don't have to pay as much as they want. They're proud of them things.

FWIW, Buy an elec. leaf blower like Sammy suggested... It Works fine....JMHO

Do you really think that an electric leaf blower is going to force water into more places than driving through a storm is???

C'mon, I ain't buying that....

I just use it to blow the big water droplets off the bike and around the engine then finish off with a hand dry....

Robert. I agree. I said that a couple dealers told me the same thing as Mark's. I think it's bullshit too.
Rode from here to Memphis summer before last. It NEVER stopped raining.... HARD!! Every crevice of that bike was soaked. And, every crevice I got was too!!

Rumor has it Eddie uses his Master Blaster everyday!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif)

I too agree with Robert. That is unless you're using a leaf blower that produces more wind velocity than 70-80 MPH. Even then, you'd have to pour water on your bike for hours at a time while using the leaf blower to remotely imitate riding down the interstate on a rainy day. Now Pressure washers are a different animal. Even with dirt bikes they advise not to use 'em as the pressure from the water can damage wiring and penetrate air cleaners, pushing water into valve trains and cylinders, and possibly water in the crankcase in two strokers. Could be the thinking behind the leaf blower, but iffin you ride the bike or run it till the water quits steamin' off it like you should anyway..........

I am rereading this thread and thinking to myself where could water be blown into on a bike with a leaf blower that it could really do harm?

My first thought would be past the air filter... Seems unless unlikely to me if your not a idiot.

My next thought would be the electrical system... But that is all fairly well protected at least on a newer bike.

That's left engine or brake gaskets? I would hope not.

Maybe past the oil fill?
Maybe I'm missing something, and I agree I would never ever take a pressure washer to my bike.

The only thing DO NOT like about the leaf blower is its size. Mine is like 4 feet long!! I've used it and banged the bike a couple times cause I was not careful swingin' the damn thing around. It's plastic and I didn't hurt the tins, but still ... Stand back!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif)

Almost forgot, Also bought one of those cheapo Harley clone hand held blowers from Harbor Freight. It is a bit noisy, and the air intake is on the left side, sucks your T-shirt against the intake and stops the air flow. Works OK if you keep It away from your clothes.

About pressure washers. First time I took my Dyna to the dealer for service, the salesman is giving me a lecture about the ills of pressure washers while the service guy is pressure washing my new bike. IF you have a 4,000 psi washer and the wand set to pin point you will screw up something. The average home pressure washer is about 1500psi. If you use a fairly wide fan spray and keep your distance you will blow off bugs and dirt. I try not to get around wheel bearings or other seals. Point is, I've been using a pressure washer on all my bikes for years with no problems.

He knew I used a blower. How is it advantageous for a mechanic to tell you to not use a blower? Why would he want to lie about that?
You need a battery, and I'll sell you one. Check.
You need new tires, and I'll sell you some. Check.
Here's a really good cleaning product, and I'll sell you some. Check.
I can tell you use a blower, and I recommend you stop doing that. No check.
Say what you will, but there's no gain for him in telling me so, and he did correctly determine that I had used a blower on them.

I've used compressed air on every motorcycle and car I've owned including Harleys. It's hard to imagine just what the mechanic saw to make that diagnosis...?

anyways, Master Blaster is a coolfuckenconcept. I read all your replies, and all the reviews of those people that own one. From what I read it's fit for use and fit for purpose. Next time someone asks about them, I can give a report.
