On the way home last night I noticed my speedo wasn't working and this morning the engine light was staying on and the speedo is still not working...

Being the Law Abiding Citizen that I am I want to know how fast I'm going.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

Did a quick search and didn't see any info. on here about it....

So I'm taking it off and cleaning it first to see if that helps if not I'll order a new one....

Have any of ya'll ever had to replace yours....

Any tips or tricks that ya'll would like to share????

Took the fucker off @ lunch and cleaned it then took a test ride...

It was dirty and it had some metal shavings thought it would do the trick...

No Joy, but the check engine light came off....

I'll just have to do without the speedo until I get a replacement sensor ordered or pick one up at the dealer....

Since you've already pulled the sensor to clean it, you have a good idea of what it will take to replace it. Yes, I have done it on my 2001 FLHT and it was easy and fairly inexpensive as I recall.

Yep, I didn't follow the wire up to the connector but it goes in behind the oil tank.... Probably get to it easiest by pulling the seat off and taking the battery out etc.... I'll finger it out... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerbang1.gif)
