I have a question about an 89 springer front end. I need the left spacer but made one that is doing so so but when i tighten the front axle to spec which i think is 55ftlbs max, the wheel labors when i spin it. What could be the problem? I packed the bearings too. I would like to buy a whole complete axle for it, spacers & all. Where could i? And any info why its not spinning good?

When you spin it... Is the brake caliper on or off???

Pads could be rubbing??? Maybe??? Dunno...

Was the washer you made the same exact thickness????

That tourque setting is for the OEM washer....

If you back it off does it spin freely???

There was a site I found or maybe someone posted a link on here that specialized on hard to find older Harley Parts.... That'd be my first place to start searching...

Good Luck, and let us know how it goes....

Here's a view of my 84 FXST with a 89 Springer. Don't have the part's book handy for the part nbr. Does yours look like this?

I have it where it spins good. I made a spacer. I have electronic speedometer so i dont have exactly likeyours. Mine may not be an &9. I have fender struts that ill try to post a pic soon so you'll see what i mean. Im having to make all my stuff. Which is cool, i dont mind. Part of the fun. I now have to make a small bushing that centers the axle on the left fork foot. (May not be called that but sounds good).

There are 2 types of Springers, the 89-92 version and the 92 later version. Sounds like you have a after 92 type.
