Is that the number you call in a non-emergency, emergency? I'm using it now!!

So, "T" "leaves me" yesterday. She calls at some point. Bike won't start. Just fueled it up. After an hour ride in a truck back to HD Asheville it gets unloaded and, of course, starts immediately. Checked code. Nada.

Now, as it right now, she calls from somewhre near Indy. NO headlights!!! No low or high beam on either light.

Does anyone know where the fuse is for headlights so I can guide her through it? I"ll start poking around online.

Also, she left the torx wrench for the saddle bags on a parking lot on the way down. I said, "No problem, I have mine." Pretty sure you can get the side covers off with the bags on, right?

LIL HELP?!

YEAH, she's out of daylight. BUT, very near a room for the night. And, tomorrow, push comes to shove she can hammer down home. I think she had some side trips in mind though.

It might be too late now since you posted this 1.5 hours ago, but the fuse block should be behind the left sidecover. Pull the saddlebag, then the cover, then pull of the fuse block cover. Headlamp should be in the lower half. Maybe.

Good luck, T! I'd come get you, but it's about 6 hours non-stop with no traffic on a good day from here.

Video is for EG, but should be same for RG, I suppose?

yep, can't get the side cover off without removing the saddlebag which I can't do without a wrench. So unless I severely oversleep and make it to the dealer that's 4 miles north which doesn't open until 10, I'll just be riding home without headlights. It's only 3-1/2 hours so I should be able to make it there before dark!

Saddlebag won't come off without a wrench? WTF? Should be a thumb turn dzus fastener. No tools required. Normally.

Just saw this.

What BC said. It's a thumb ring, two actually, unless yours has been intentionally setup that way to make it harder to pull the bag.

My headlight went out recently and found the plastic socket melted. Picked up a replacement from auto parts and installed it and then ordered ceramic one from ebay. Ceramic don't melt. Maybe you just blew the bulb? Hope you get it figured out and make it home safe and sound.

Ride safe

I put Brukus security torx on the bags years ago!

So, the wrench she left on a parking lot somewhere ended up biting us. She had it towed to a dealer. They, of course, have those wrenches. Took the bag off and spotted a cracked swing arm!! Fuse did fix the lights. And, the engine breaking up. Fucking Harley. The headlights fail and the bike won't run because "evwerything runs through that circuit". A fucking 5th grader could do better design. I'm so fucking done with Harley!

Both going on the block as soon as I get home. DUN!!!!

They don't even make that swing arm anymore. There is a later year swing arm that fits. I knokw Clay knows which year. 2005 Clay??

Anyway, "T" by herself I'm sorry to say. Got a Uhaul truck and trailer. Loaded it up and deove it to our house. The bike is lowered 2". So, off fucking course the bottom drags loadind or unloading. Not sure which. It takes out the jiffy stand spring for about the millionth time!!!!!! She dumps it outside our shop because of that. She's alone dong all this so....

I left because of steady rain into the third day in SC and NC. I left Asheville around 11. Been in Indiana for about an hour. Gonna crash and get home tomorrow.

Did I mention I'm totally DONE with this shit!!!

Bye!

I agree. Kudos T for being such a trooper. Sorry to hear the trip has been so tuff on both of you. It just ain't right. We trailered Ol' Paint to Tomahawk this year because of the incident we had with her there last time we were there. I was not going to be stuck away from home with no way back again. Funny, everyone else in our group musta felt the same way. Hope the rest of the trip shapes up for you Bruce. Next time you want to ride some nice roads and play a new Golf course, trailer the bikes up here and stay with us. Hundreds of great roads to ride without going 100 miles away. As for trailering, us old farts have nuttin' to prove. We've already put in the miles and paid our dues.

HE'S STILL NOT HOME!!!

Last night he was ranting about a terrible bridge in KY. Today he's dodging terrible roads under construction in IN.

Finally, the Uni-go trailer just fell apart!

He pulls off the road right in front of a fancy house that just happens to be on a golf course! Really nice homeschooling mom is there, her hubby will be home at 3:30 and will be happy to help out (as are all husbands!). He leaves the trailer there and rides in to town to buy wrenches and find a motel. The only motel in town is nasty stinky roach motel, actually smells like dirty people in the room! So he stashes his stuff in there, grabs lunch and heads back to the trailer. The guy gets home from work and they take the trailer apart on the front lawn. Had to remove the body from the chassis to get to the part inside that broke and take the plug apart to remove the wiring harness because the part needs welded. This guy owns an auto repair shop and has a welder. So he's taking the part to work with him in the morning and Bruce should be back in business.

Since I can't bear the thought of him staying in a stinky motel I get online and in between the golf course community and the town is McCormicks Creek State Park! Some of you may remember the place, r4fthrs took us there and we stayed the night at the Canyon Inn in the park on the way to Zip's in 2011!

Maybe this is all a test.... from you know who?

Holy shit! Murphy is his damn copilot this time out.

Here is the thing; he breaks down, and just happens to do it in front of the house of an auto mechanic with a welder in his shop.... what do we call that? You know who is a practical joker?

Hope you get her squared away bruddah and get home. One more thing, you've met some really nice people, who have not thought twice about helping out a fellow traveler as did Tee.... Man I love this country!

I was soaked to the skin on 9/25, 26, 27, 28 and 29!!!! Unloaded this evening and everything I own is wet!!! Does Murphy ever like "MOVE"???

Yeah, don't get me wrong Robert. I'm so lucky in sooooo many ways it's almost unbelievable. BUT, when it comes to this shit the luck is ALWAYS consistent. Bike trips are truly not worth it. And, I LOVE to ride!!

Glad you're home bruddah... That shit you went through builds character...

Waiting at a light, on the west side of Manhattan, and there's a guy and a barmaid sharing a joint. Guy looks at me and smiles, gives me the thumbs up on my bike. I nod back and smile. Still waiting for the light when the guy runs over and his best Liberace impersonation tells me all about how he rented a Harley, went all over New York and Long Island and "what fun it was!"... Laughed and giggled my ass off all the way home... You meet me the nicest party on a Harley...

I actually enjoyed the ride in its entirety yesterday. After 5 days of being soaked I guess you get used to it. I loved runnin' 80 - 85 on 24 West bound. I must have passed 25 vehicles. No lectures please. Cause, well, Fuck it!!

With all the breakdowns and expense it's gonna be a cold day in hell before my bikes are more than 200 miles from home. Unless they're on a trailer. Hell, that's where they end up anyway!! lol

On your way there stop by my place and pick up my monkey ass and Bobby Sweetback. We'll stop off at Robert's and drag him and Anita out to Bruce's and then drag him and Tee out for some riding and probably some breaking down too... But now we know, if you're riding with Bruce chances are he's dragging his bud "Murphy" along with him.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif)

Ride safe

Oh btw: If you don't know Mike, he'd do some crazy shit like that too... I can actually imagine him showing up at my front door talking about, "ready? I got spreadsheet!".... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif)

Next time you want to ride some nice roads and play a new Golf course, trailer the bikes up here and stay with us. Hundreds of great roads to ride without going 100 miles away. As for trailering, us old farts have nuttin' to prove. We've already put in the miles and paid our dues.

I rode to the stealer today to pick up a jiffy stand spring for the '01. Came home and parked it outside the shop. Didn't put it away. I was going to do some clean up in the shop.

Anyways, just now I went over to put it away. Actually remembered my key fob!!! Which the return trip to the house to get it to move it 20 feet has pissed me off a hundred times!!! So, I open the door, hop on the bike and start it up. It was in neutral. Start her up and shift into first. Neutral light goes out. Felt normal. Lewt the clutch out and bike does not move. I think WTH?? Pop it back in Neutral and back to first. Bike won't move!! Killed the engine so she wouldn't jump forward. Checked the linkage real quick. All connected and "moving" normally. Start. Bike won't move. It's as if it's in neutral.

So, I rolled it forward. Clinka, clinka, clink! Something is radically wrong. I rode the sumbitch to that sp;ot with NO indication of anything wrong. NOW WHAT?!!!!

OK. I'm officially petitioning the court. I hereby and forthwith axpect the court to transfer the moniker of "Blackcloud" to be officially transferred to me!!! As Donny Reagan would say, Forthwith!!!

No shit. This shit is unreal!! Intellctually, I get that it's all coincidence. But, I swear to shit I have the worst luck I've ever heard of as it relates to shit like this!! To be redundant. I GIVE!! Ya got me! Towel is thrown in the middle of the ring!!!

What does 900 pounds of scrap iron go for!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)
