According to Timmermans website they do not have any rooms available for May 25, 2012. Just sayin'

Well crap. We had not checked when we (I) suggested Timmerman's. It's Memorial Day weekend. Could be tough going finding rooms.

Thanks Sammy. Hope we can work it out. We'll do some digging over the next couple days.

OK so after 2 hours of researching reasonable (?) motels with restaurants within stumbling distance, I had a short list of $100 plus options in Dubuque.

So in desperation, I double checked Sammy's info and sure enough Timmerman's website said no vacancy.

Not to be dissuaded, I call Timmerman's - who has plenty of vacancies and a worthless website!

I BLOCKED 10 ROOMS AT TIMMERMAN'S
*****UNDER "HST" *****
for Friday May 25th
$74.99 each
(4) Kings - 1 taken
(6) Doubles

Please call and reserve your rooms now under the HST block. 815-747-3181

They are all NON SMOKING rooms - if you are a smoker - tell them and they will change your room.

Did some research & my recommendations are:

Friday
9:00 KSU our house
11:30 Poopies for lunch 129 mi
12:30 KSU
1:15 arrive in Galena (drop off wives?) 31 mi
1:45 Timmermans checkin & unload 13 mi
return to Galena for the afternoon 13 mi
7:00 pm dinner at Timmermans restaurant or TBD

Between Poopies and Galena, in Savana is the Ironhorse Saloon. They have a unique collection of old motorcycles if there's interest in stopping.

Saturday
6:00 say goodby to Mark & Michelle
8:00 KSU ride the WI side 40 mi
9:15 Cassville cross the river via Cassville Ferry $8/bike
9:45 in Iowa, ride the IA side 40 mi
10:45 Prairie du Chien WI
check in - run loose

I found a couple options for a nice loop NE of PdC. If some want to hang around PdC and others want to do some riding. See attached map.
90 miles 2hr 15min (the furthest northern blue road)
72 miles 1hr 45min (the closer northern blue road - goes thru Mt Sterling on the white map.

Saturday night stay at same hotel in PdC and leave Sun morning.

(Monday is Memorial Day)

I've never been north as far north on the river as PdC, so this is all based on research.
Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Was hoping Dot could recommend a hotel in PdC.
A coworker & fellow biker has threatened to give me his folder on PdC area. We'll see what that says.

As much as I'd like to make this one I don't think it's going to happen. Working on a transcontinental orbit a little later on if a few thing's come together. I'm definately in on next year for the run to Lead to the "mansion on the mountain"!

Sorry I haven't been active in this thread. With Dot's situation and questionable time off, even tho I hate to say this, I may not make it either. (IMG:http://www.harleyshoptalk.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)

I'm thinkin' I'll make it and have reserved a room @ Timmerman's, and if at all possible Dot may be able to make it one night/day(maybe she can come down with the ragtop for a day). But for now it's all questionable, and I hate to take charge of anything and then have to back out at the last minute.

Dot and I eyeballed the motels last time we were there. The AmericInn, Best Western, Brisbois, The Bridgeport, Microtel, Country Inn and Suites, and of course HDmark's favorite, The Super 8 all looked good. If someone wants to take the bull by the horn and get a block, I say go for it. I have no problem leading a ride outta Timmmerman's on Saturday morning to PDC and for the rest of the day on Saturday. The PDC area has some great riding and I know some nice roads that are different than what we have ridden there in the past. The road north outta PDC on the west side of the river is great and is somewhere folks from HST have yet to ride.

Remember the times i said i was poor? I aint joking this time! Is be poooor pooooor now Hope these fine places serve hot dogs cuz i may have shot my wod to soon! Oh I aint backing out its just the $ I had for while i am there just went up in smoke. The Road Glide's exhaust cracked at the weld behind the rear head. Course this is the area the "welder" was working when he installed the "o2 bungs" for me. Maybe maybe not but when i went to take it off the metal was brittle so im ordering up a new exhaust ....prolly would have bean better off doing this before i spent 130 powder coating the muffler and heat shields! Lets keep our fingers crossed nothing "Pops" up during my "family retreat" to Spring Training in sunny Arizona tomorrow!!! Fat Boy deserves a good long trip! She has bean sitting at 62000 for a while now!

Man. I was wondering about that exhaust!!

I had a Krome Works (?) 2:1 years ago. Real "leading edge" Full, welded on shields. That damn thing broke the same weld at least 4 times. Finally shucked it.

NOT up there. Never seen that. Not that I've seen all that much but damn if your flange was snug what could make it do that?!

We are only going to be good for the Friday ride up to to Bruces, Still planing on intercepting the contingent from the south at the Boat Tavern in Bath?

On Sat. we might ride part of the way up to Poopy's with the group, but will have to turn around and head back home probably before lunch...

That's the plan, Sean. Looking forward to it!

I''ve not provided any "directions" to the bar. Just go to Bath and park, right? I better get around to calling in those reservations before I miss out on this. I do still have reservations for Casa de Mark, Huey, and Fgowi I hope. This is going to be great! I like the idea of a moving rally as we're going to get to see so much more area and meet up with many more member than I thought would be coming. Will be especially great to see Ty and Sammy come so far to hang with us midwesterners. (IMG:http://www.harleyshoptalk.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/bike.gif)

Gonna be a good time.
