Told my Dr. Now that I'm on Medicare I want one of those FREE hover Around power chairs, or the other brand. My knees and hips are on their way out, Arthritis runs in the family, and Obama Care will pay for it. Doc says absolutely NO. He keeps telling me I need exercise, not a power chair, Asked if I wanted to gain another 50 pounds, because if I got one of those I sure would.

Damn Ty. Sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself. You're too young to be having those troubles.

Screwball, sing the song. "Hover round takes me where I wanna go..." Come on, you know the words. (IMG:http://www.harleyshoptalk.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/hysterical.gif)

Ty I really don't know shit about what you are going through, but I do know a little about dealing long term injures and pain management.

I have managed to get myself pretty banged up over the years and my 2 cents is avoid the drugs and do as much physical therapy as much as possible. I have been told I will never walk again and I can freaking run, I was told I would be be unable to provide for myself and my family and I said no way and took the bull by the horns and kicked ass and I am doing quite well.

No two situations are the same but anything can be overcome, Stay positive and kick ass.

It's not that exciting of a story, During the gulf war I received some tiny shrapnel wounds that I did not even know I had until two years after I was out, a tiny little speck of metal managed to get up against my spinal cord in my neck and cause its share of problems.

Then in 2000 I rolled a Ford Bronco II and crushed two vertebra in my back. It's a mess but I never let it slow me down or stop me.

Are you still walking around in flip-flops and leaving your feet and ankles unsupported? If so, get your shit together and be more careful of where you step for a while.

5-6 years ago when I started trying to turn around my poor health, I ran into several problems too with plantar fascia. Some days I'd go for a nice walk after work of maybe 2-3 miles and when I woke up later that day, I couldn't walk and had to call into work. As the weight has come off, I have been focused more and more on mobility. I now purposefully, will make easy tasks harder by trying to twist and reach for things that force my body to move and stretch it's natural range of motion. Instead of taking the easy way out and sitting down to put on socks and shoes, I balance on one foot and lift my foot to about knee level so I can put them on. It was hard as hell at first but my flexibility, balance and strength have improved a lot from it. I have also bought a couple beginner YOGA DVD's and I recommend you take up YOGA too. The body weight exercises and stretching poses will eventually fix all that shit that's been ailing you if you are taking care of your nutritional needs.

Ty....because there is money in it!

I'm with Clay. After suffering horrible Planar Faciatis as well my doc told me 1) no bare feet unless on sand - beach etc 2) no sandals 3) no unsupportive shoes period.

....I still wear sandals when it's super hot but if my feet start hurting back on to shoes. Have you tried custom orthotic insoles??

LOL you guys should know better by now "have you tried" you name it i have tried it, you name it i own one. One problem is always complicated by the other. So my inverted feet are in a shitty position because of the way im standing/limping/hobbling from the fascitis. Explains the ankle sprains, hip problems and lower back. I have special inserts custom made from plaster molds 2 sets, i have special custom aerospace aluminum ankle brace's for alignment and stability. Problem is cant fit all that shit in my shoe at the same time.

With my inserts one is more aggressive than the other, there like splints. Im wearing them pretty much full time and then at night i have a boot i slip into that stretches the tissue while i sleep. It took a long time before and im sure it will take a long time again. i meat with another specialist this afternoon and he will look at my orthodic too

When my feet aint hurting i do try and sneak in eve of flip flops or another low top sneaker hell them funny shoes i have are better then being barefoot! I have not spent a whole day in crappy shoes (at least not on purpose) for a long time!

I aint going to lie ......I have not bean wearing my inserts all the time .......they can fuck up a good pair of shoes and i feel like im walking on heals and if its a low top running shoe im sitting up to high and makes me prone to ankle sprains .... Im going to talk to the dude about all this today maybe they have some thing better now!

its all good advice from my fun loving peeps! .......I wish Joe X lived by me i think he would motivate my ass to change!

As a Screamin' Mimi diabetic we are told No bare feet, never, NEVER, EVER I usually wear tennis at the beach.... in the water. I've got 'water shoes' with most of the canvas cut out. 1 little OhOh can cause you to loose your foot. Cuts and Booboos on your feet don't heal correctly.

Personally, I like walking and listen to my Doctor. As I've told him, he knows a lot more about health than I do, I know more about telephones than he. I promise never to operate on anyone if he promises not to fix a telephone.
