Just picked up an '88 softail and was wondering if anybody has suggestions on which wide tire kit they recommend or ones to stay away from. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks |

my suggestion would be not to do it, but if you like, then knock yourself out.

I wouldn't either. Wide tires seem to be trendy, but aren't necessarily an improvement. I've ridden both. For the price and hassle of wider tires, I'd just as soon stay with what came on the bike.

The kits seem pretty expensive for increasing tire size ...
I do not beleive they are worth it. |

I'm with the crowd here..no performance gain 2 be had, it's all 4 the looks...but the wide tire on a softail DOES look good....as long as U don't try to put a "beer barrel" back there. Anything over a 240 MM on a stock rake/frame just looks goofy IMO.
If U have ur heart set on it, look into the Heartland kit. It's a good setup. |
