My shifter became completely disengaged, completely moves all the way down, and I can pull it all the backwards. Feels like it grips a little when doing that, stripped? What do I check? Thanks

See if it's just the splines and maybe needs tightened. If it's tight and the spines are engaged, you have a problem.

shifter shaft-has splines that, if your shifter arm is not tight on the shaft, will wear and eventually smooth out and cost the shifter arm to fall away. Lucky for us it's an easy install and you can pick up a new shifter rod at the stealers or from jpcycles.com.

Typical Harley engineering. Every Harley on earth has the same problem, hardened steel shaft versus aluminum lever. There are after market levers that are hardened steel that work. You can also drill out the lever and run a grade 5 bolt and nut.
