After work this afternoon I tackled a maintenance job I was a bit worried about, I replaced the in tank filter on my 11 Heritage.
The service Manuel was a little vague on replacing the filter without disassembling all in tank components so I go to YouTube and all the videos look way different then my manual.Diving into the job I find it is a breeze no need to drain the tank or do major disassembly.

Just pop off the consol cover and remove the top plate(IMG:http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz233/greg_hill1/39A54115-62AF-434A-A45A-E0401BD64A09.jpg)

Pop the filter housing out of the cover and pull the retainer clip out and separate the two halfs of the filter housing and pull the filter and o ring

out(IMG:http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz233/greg_hill1/D6F7BD6F-0DE3-414E-81CE-C7D82AADC82F.jpg) (IMG:http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz233/greg_hill1/93E28E66-A447-4123-A5A1-99C188D9D671.jpg) Slip a new filter in and button her up.

With a couple of interruptions from my phone it was all over with in about a half hour.I like it when it is easy.

Are you sure that fucker's gonna start now? I'm not comfortable doing crap like that unless I had seen it done before. I'm not sure the videos would be enough "confidence" for me.

We have a minor monsoon going on right now so I didn't ride it but ran in in the garage and she seems fine. The videos I found are way different then the way my bike is plumed zero help.

Yep, feel you bro'.

Had mine replaced at the stealership at around 35,000 miles. Thought of tackling it myself but the owners manual stipulated that I had to replace all the screws with new ones. There's about twenty of 'em. Next time I'm doing what you did and getting her done myself!... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Ride safe

BTW: How many miles did you have on the speedo when you replaced the filter?

I replaced the Screws, filter and gasket for about $35. or about half the cost of a damn HD tee shirt (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)
I changed the filter at the scheduled 25k service.
