Been working on a tank repair for a Billy Bike clone...
(IMG:https://s6.postimg.org/vphv6ct5t/image.jpg)
I didn't want to us so much bondo and I saw this method on YouTube and thought I'd give it a try.
I will be using expanding foam, Fiberglas and bondo.
(IMG:https://s6.postimg.org/99q8wpokh/image.jpg)
Shape the foam..
(IMG:https://s6.postimg.org/w9ww91me9/image.jpg)
Add three layers of Fiberglas..
(IMG:https://s6.postimg.org/nhfxld19d/image.jpg)
Finish and shape with bondo
(IMG:https://s6.postimg.org/44kg1cm8x/image.jpg)
Now prime and paint as usual...

Nice job on the repair, any idea how the tank got dinged like that? Looks like someone threw a rock at it.

I don't know how it happened. Probably wouldn't start and someone threw a rock at it.

Yeah you do! I can't tell that tank was damaged. Looks perfectly smooth to me. And the paint job is great too.

I'm no body man, but aren't you afraid to put that much filler I a dent?? I'd be worried that it would crack or pop out. Peanut tanks are pretty cheap and a complete
repaint wouldn't take as much time as trying to match the base coat and the flames...... but as I said, I'm not a body man

Nice job, expanding foam is cool stuff, I watched a company level a very large swimming pool that sunk in on one side with the the same expanding foam.

Your right, that's why I used the expanding foam first. I used very little bondo..I still had to match the base coat because the frame was painted the same color.. And I did a complete repaint. He thought about using a new tank but decided to fix this one.
