Bought a 09 ABS Rk and and am now in the process of looking for a comfortable seat and handlebars. My stats are 6'02" 32" inseam 280/90 lbs. Dont even say they word Corbin as they blow as well as the customer service. have also owned Russell seats in the past which were great but there is only so much that they con do building off the OEM seat pan.
I have sort of been thinking about the Mustang solo as well as Ultimate solo but am also open to suggestions on anything else. Would really like to hear from folks that are my size and have a 09 or 10 FLHR. Photos also would be great. FWIW I have tried air bladder inserts and gel ones in the past on the OEM HD seats and they sucked. have tried the HD sundowner which was sort of nice but never really held up all they well. Would consider then new HD sundowner solo seat but I have no use for a riders backrest and its BS that HD pushes one on you when you do not need one. Somebody wrote me from another site a while back telling myself that Mustang was coming out with a new solo seat for the large folks that would move you back some but have yet to hear anything. TIA, John |

I like the Mustang solo but if you get the backrest, get the one with the swagged bracket cause otherwise it will push you forward and make your ass sore

Had the Mustang solo on my RK, and it was a great seat. Just stay away from the day tripper cause it's really a 1/2 day tripper/ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

The Mustang Solo with offset bracket is the way to go.

Thanks all for the feedback but it does me no good w/o your stats ie height weight and inseam as well as what year bike. From what Mustang has told me in the past is that there seats move you up and forward.
Also what bars are you using? J Had the Mustang solo on my RK, and it was a great seat. Just stay away from the day tripper cause it's really a 1/2 day tripper/ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

Either the seat is comfortable or it isn't. Geez. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) . . . Just fugging with ya. I'm a short shit and about 100 lbs lighter than you. The Mustang solo actually drops you down and back. Hence on my '04 RK I used Harley's RK High Bar to compensate for my alligator arms. The seat was comfortable for me. Perhaps Seahag can chime in, he's a big guy and I believe he was very happy with the mustang. |

Well right off the bat if I'm speaking to those who weigh 165 lbs soaking wet w/30 inseam and 5'8" I will know that its not going to be good if there telling me that there seat is great.
If you have ever dealt with a legit seat builder these are the first questions that they ask you. Even when I spoke with Mustang a few years back these were the questions that were asked and when I gave them my stats I was told it would be close, mainly because there seats move you up and forward which is not good for tall people. Stock Hayley seats may be comfortable for the lightweights but for us big boys they suck the big one. Bottom line the cheap foam that they use quickly breaks down after a few hundered miles and then your seat is junk. IE this is why I ask to hear from folk my size and see what they have been satisfied with. W/O asking your just throwing money away, I know from past experiances. Pretty bizarre reply, but I guess you may have not have problems with seats over the years. I have and been through many brands. Bottom line I will never deal with a company again who does not either offer a return policy or stand behind there work. The only stand up campanies that I know of and have delt with in the past are Russell seats and Mustang. CC, Corbin, Lepara and many others are out for the looks over comfort and may be great for light weight people but have done myself no good. At least when I did contact CC last year they told me that there seat would not work for me (so a big bonus points for them for being honest) Corbin again all I can say is phew! Russell are tops but for Harleys they are limited on what they can do because they build off the OEM stock pan which if your tall they can not move you back w/o moving you up higher because of the stepped design of the OEM seat pan. Stats do HAVE A LOT TO DO WITH IT! How the hell you gonna know if a seat is comfortable for you by knowing someones stats? Ain't tryin' to be disagreeable but "stats" haven't got shit to do with it. Either the seat is comfortable or it isn't. Geez.

From what Mustang has told me in the past is that there seats move you up and forward. Also what bars are you using? J Ok...try this on for size. I'm 6' with a 30" inseam. Weight has fluctuated from 300-350 over the years and I'll be starting my 9th year with a mustang solo and passenger pillion setup. I've had 860 and 750 mile days [and many, many more in the 400-600 mile range] in that seat and I was ready to go again the next day. If they've found a way to improve on their original solo for bigger guys, just buy it. The ONLY complaint I have with my seat is that the seat cover doesn't breathe and you get swamp ass when it's really hot...but I fixed that by buying a set of beadriders. That non-breathing seat cover is standard on most every other seat out there as well...unless you get real leather. But then you have to worry about rain covers and shit. |

I'm 5'8+afucken1/2" with 200lbs in the summaaahhh and a fewfuckenmore in the wintaaahhh... but fuck stats... not sure they matter... your comfort comes from things that matter in the seat design... like cushening, setback, forward/backward position, backrest (or not), water resistance... ect...
aNyways... I have had Mustang seats on a dyna, on a softail and someday soon on an Ultra (hopefully)... and with the offset adjustable backrest... a Mustang seat is easily a 600 mile a day comfortable ride... I look forward to my next Mustang seat. |

You'll have to forgive Sammy. His ass is the size of one of your calves.
Stats- I'm 6', 245 lbs. with a 32" inseam. I have an '04 FLHRCI, with stock handlebars and a Mustang solo. 700+ mile days have been reasonably comfortable although it would be better if my grips were an inch or so closer so I believe the seat does set me further back than the god awful stock seat did. Highway pegs help stretch out my longer legs. I've never heard of any complaints from owners of the Mustang. I've also heard peeps swear by their Corbins, but they require a couple of thousand miles to break in and where's the fun in that? As for Seahag's butt sweat issues (thanks for sharing, Clay), engine heat deflectors help a lot. Besides the beads, I've also known a few riders that like sheep skin seat covers for warmth, comfort, and also keeping cool as it lets the air circulate better. Good luck. |

is that what those iranian cab drivers sit on? where did you get it? www.beadrider.com Yes, very similar to a cabbie's seat cover...but tailored for motorcycle seats and painted black. REALLY make a big difference in comfort in the late summer heat. If you keep them on in the cold, you'll really notice it; because your ass will get cold. |
